Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could help the team reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
